You’re pregnant, congratulations!
I’m so happy you’re here. Let me take you by the hand and support you in pregnancy, birth, and postpartum - however it unfolds.
Introduction to my work
Having a baby is an incredibly beautiful experience, but it can also feel daunting, overwhelming or just completely new. This might be your first, your second, or maybe your fifth baby, but every pregnancy is different and comes with its own emotions, questions, and choices.
This is your story, your birth, and your journey, but you don’t have to navigate it alone.
I am Anne. I’m a modern doula with an old-fashioned name. My role as a doula is to offer steady, science-based, and compassionate support so you can move through this experience feeling informed, respected, and truly cared for. I believe in your ability to make the choices that are truly right for you, whether you’re considering a home birth, a hospital birth, or anything in between. Together, we create space for your preferences, instincts, and unique story. You deserve support that feels grounding, gentle, and centred around your needs. I’m here to support you and your family, every step of the way.
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who offers emotional, physical, and informational support. This can be provided during pregnancy, birth, and the early postnatal period. Unlike medical staff, a doula does not perform clinical tasks. Instead, a doula provides consistent guidance that helps you make informed choices and feel confident in your body’s ability to give birth.
A doula helps you prepare for your birth, navigate your options, understand your rights, and feel grounded throughout your journey. Research shows that having a doula can reduce intervention rates, shorten labour, and increase satisfaction with the birth experience. Most importantly, a doula helps you feel seen, heard, and supported every step of the way.
About me
I’m Anne, a modern doula with an old-fashioned name. I am Dutch-born and I’m living and working in the UK.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by pregnancy, birth, and the early days of life. Over time, I became increasingly aware that many people don’t receive the gentle, respectful, and personal care they deserve during pregnancy and birth. I believe that birth works best when people feel safe, supported, and empowered, and that every family should have access to informed choices and compassionate support. I am especially enthusiastic about physiological birth, but I am very happy to guide you on the path you choose.
My background is in Health and Life Sciences, and I hold a Master’s degree that mainly focused on healthcare management and International Public Health. My academic journey led me to study the bond between babies and their fathers and inequalities in matern care, and my thesis on birth disparities among ethnic minorities deeply shaped my passion for reproductive justice.
My practice is grounded in evidence, intuition, and a deep trust in the physiology of birth. I aim to create a nurturing space where you can connect with your own strength and step into birth feeling confident and cared for, however it unfolds.
My approach
My philosophy centres on:
Physiological birth — honouring the natural process whenever possible and preferred
Informed decision-making — helping you understand all your options
Emotional safety — creating calm, continuity, and trust
Personalised support — every person or family is unique, your care should be too
Respect and inclusivity — supporting all birthing people and families
Whether you are planning a home birth, a hospital birth, or anything in between; my aim is to help you feel empowered throughout your journey.
