What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who offers emotional, physical and informational support during pregnancy, birth and the early postnatal period. Unlike medical staff, a doula does not perform clinical tasks. Instead, a doula provides consistent guidance that helps you make informed choices and feel confident in your body’s ability to give birth.
A doula helps you prepare for your birth, navigate your options, understand your rights and feel grounded throughout your journey. Research shows that having a doula can reduce intervention rates, shorten labour and increase satisfaction with the birth experience. Most importantly, a doula helps you feel seen, heard and supported every step of the way.
